Winterville Center Activities Resume Tuesday, June 1st

The first 100 people who attend our activities the first week will receive a bag with goodies compliments of Humana and others (while supplies last).

Temporary office hours through the end of May are from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Please call the office at 706-742-0823 with any questions.

Effective Tuesday, June 1st our office hours will be from 9 AM until 5 PM. Classes and activities are as scheduled below. We will also be open to accept rentals for parties, meetings, and other groups.

Beginning Tuesday, June 1st we will resume our Coffee with the Veterans and Threadworks groups from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Come and join other vets for a time of socialization. Most just sit around and gab, but you are welcome to play cards or other games. You will be close to the coffee pot and donuts, but it will no longer be a self-serve coffee counter. You will be served at the counter in the kitchen by a volunteer or a member of our staff. For everyone’s continued safety, disposable and individually wrapped utensils and condiments will be used. Still only one dollar donation for each cup of coffee or donut. It will be great to have you guys back!

The Threadworks Group is a social group that shares the love for all things thread, yarn, hooks and needles. Anyone who crochets, knits, embroiders, cross-stitches, macramé’s, or works with any other fabric craft is encouraged to stop by.

We hope both groups can join us for stitches of laughter and conversation.

Our “first” First Friday Potluck Luncheons will take place on Friday, June 4th from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Our theme is “Summer Break.” Schools are closed and vacations begin in June so let us pretend we are going to Hawaii! Our Hawaiian themed menu can include some pork or chicken kabobs, pineapple or mango salsa, luau meatballs, ham sliders, Hawaiian roll sandwiches, casseroles or YOUR favorite Hawaiian dish. So bring something to share and don’t forget about the desserts! Wear something Hawaiian, too.

One of the oldest games known to the Chinese culture and mankind, Mahjong has evolved today to suit the tastes of the modern Chinese while keeping its roots intact. All levels of players welcome.

Weekly on Thursdays from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Room 103. $1 donation per person.

Dortha working on an oil painting project

Oil painting classes resume weekly on Mondays from 1:00 until 3:00 PM. $10 per class.

We still have cookbooks available. We’re down to the last 50! I can take phone orders with a credit card during office hours and I will set one aside for you to pick up, or pay cash upon arrival. The cost is $20, or you may order a printed copy for $27.95, or digital cookbook ($15.95) online from our store at

We have leftover 5K tee shirts with our former logo on them. If anyone is interested, they are only $5.00 each. There are various sizes and have both cotton and 100% polyester. You may want to call first or send an email to inquire after size availability. Otherwise, please stop by during our office hours mentioned above. We accept cash, check, or credit cards.
