September News at the Winterville Center

Lots of new things going on at the Winterville Center in September!

First Thursday Luncheon

Our September First Thursday Potluck. Luncheon will be on Thursday, September 5th from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a dish to share. We will have a Georgia Bulldogs theme, so wear your red and black!

Our guest speaker will be Randy Smith from the Sandy Creek Nature Center. The Nature Center is on 225 acres which include over 4 miles of nature trails exploring the natural habitats of Georgia. There is also an Education & Visitor Center, that houses live animals, exhibits and a planetarium.

New Kids and Teens Classes

This September we are adding four new kids and teen classes to our schedule, including Aikido 14 and Up, Art for Kids, Art Across America, Basic Cartooning, and Kids Can Sew. These classes are in addition to Chess and Belly Dancing, which are for both kids and adults.

If you would like more details about ages for each class or to sign up your child, please call us at 706-742-0823.

New Adult Classes

In addition to our new kids’ classes, we are also offering some new classes for adults in September. Learn to Sew will feature basic sewing skills, while Modern Quilting will aid current quilters in improving their quilting skills at a more advanced level.

For both kids and adult classes, see our class schedule for more information about each class or call us at 706-742-0823.

Class Vacations

Several classes will be on vacation in September. Oil Painting will be on break September 9th and 16th and resume September 23rd. Zumba will be off September 4th, 11th, and 18th, and resume September 25th.

Emergency Preparedness

The Winterville Center is designated as local shelter in case of emergencies such as hurricanes and ice storms. If you need to shelter at the Winterville Center during one of these events, please remember to bring essentials with you: medicines, pillows, blankets, flashlights, radios, bottled water, light packaged foods, etc. Please bring enough for a few days.

During a storm or emergency, please call 911 and ask for Winterville Fire or Police if you need emergency help. Be sure to follow our Facebook page and the City of Winterville Facebook page for more information during emergency situations.
