Public concern over the Coronavirus grows as more people in the US become infected. Health officials have listed some ways you can help protect yourself from becoming infected.
Wash Your Hands Often
The best thing you can do for your health is to wash your hands thoroughly and often. Some people recommend singing “Happy Birthday” two times to count out handwashing time. Try to avoid touching your face, nose, eyes, and mouth to reduce exposure to germs.
Stay Home If You Are Sick
If you are around others and begin coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose. If you are ill and have family members in the house, wearing a facemask can protect them from the virus, though it may not help if those who are not sick wear masks. Minimizing contact like handshakes may also help protect you if others are ill and are not yet aware.
Disinfect Regularly
Some experts believe that COVID-19 can exist on surfaces for up to three days. A solution of 5 tablespoons of bleach to one gallon of water can be used as a disinfectant on the hard surfaces of your home or work. Disinfecting your cell phone, home phone, mouse, keys, and other often-used electronics can be done with disinfecting wipes.
